Frequently Asked Questions

Can everyone register for SRA programs or is registration limited to Wallingford-Swarthmore School District families?

SRA welcomes everyone to our programs and special events. We do not limit enrollment to Swarthmore residents.  There is a place for you here.

Does SRA discriminate in the hiring of staff or choice of volunteers?

SRA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status in any of its activities, programs, or operations. SRA is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, customers, participants, vendors, subcontractors and coaches.

How do I register online?

All SRA program information and registration information is available under “Programs.”  When registration becomes available for your program (e.g. Summer Camp, Town Soccer, Volleyball, etc.) an active link will appear on the specific program page.  SRA outsources all registration to Team Snap.

Do you have any programs for adults?

YES! SRA offers pick up soccer for women and men in the spring, summer, and fall.  We offer adult volleyball, pickleball, and basketball. In the summer SRA offers Bocce Ball, a Horseshoe Tournament and a Town Picnic with fun games for adults including a tug-of-war.  We are always open to new ideas for adult programming.  Reach out to Amy at amy@SwarthmoreRecreation.org if you have an idea!

Does SRA offer financial assistance?

SRA Board and staff are committed to assuring that any person or child is able to participate in any of the programs regardless of their current financial status. Financial assistance is giving in the form of a reduced registration fee called a scholarship fee. There is no application process, if a family or individual needs financial assistance, the process is to contact the SRA Interim Executive Director Amy Strachan at amy@swarthmorerecreation.org.  All financial assistance is kept strictly confidential.

What is the difference between “clinics,” “rec,” “travel,” and “club” sports?

Clinics are typically weekly programs that focus on building skills and having fun. Youth volleyball is currently a clinic, though it may grow into a rec league in the future. In rec sports, teams of SRA players play against one another week to week. Rec sports may include a same-day practice (like Town Soccer) or practice on another day (like Hoops). Travel sports are those in which SRA teams play against teams from other recreation associations in other towns. Examples of travel sports are Haven Youth Lacrosse and the Swarthmore Soccer Club. Club sports are those offered by private, for-profit organizations. SRA does not offer club sports.
