Swarthmore Recreation Association Board of Directors, Full Directors

The SRA Board of Directors consists of twelve community members who are dedicated to making this community a wonderful place to live.  Directors serve three-year terms.  Each director sits on a committee and oversees specific programming. Directors are critical in guiding and shaping SRA programs and events.  Directors attend monthly board meetings and SRA events in addition to their committee efforts.

Swarthmore Recreation Association Board of Directors, Junior Directors

SRA Junior Directors are high school students whose creativity and innovation are essential to forming the SRA of the future.  Junior Directors join the Board in their third year of high school and serve a two-year term.  They attend Board meetings and bring their energy to SRA events and programs.

SRA Soccer Board

The Soccer Board oversees the Swarthmore Soccer Club, the travel program at SRA.  The board consists of a Board Director, a Boys’ Commissioner, a Girls’ Commissioner, and an SRA Board Liaison. The SRA Director and Registrar also sit on the board.  The Soccer Board shapes the fall season, making important decisions about evaluations, teams, and schedules.  Commissioners communicate Soccer Board decisions to SRA coaches to make it a kickin’ soccer season.  The Soccer Board is primarily active in the fall.

Nether Swarthmore Basketball Board

The Basketball Board oversees Nether-Swarthmore Hoops, SRA’s recreational basketball league for second-graders through high schoolers. The Board consists of a Director, a Boys’ Commissioner, a Girls’ Commissioner, and an SRA Board Liaison.  The SRA Director and Registrar also sit on the Basketball Board. The board recruits coaches, organizes teams, determines schedules and evaluation times, and spreads the word about SRA’s programming to help make the season a slam dunk. The Basketball Board is most active during the winter season, which runs from December through February, but also helps with the summer basketball league, which runs in June and July.

SRA Track and Field Volunteers

Spring means Track and Field, and SRA needs lots of volunteers to run the Saturday morning program. We also need volunteers to organize teams and equipment and help our April to June season clear the bar.

Coaches

Volunteer coaches are the backbone of many of the programs at SRA. Coaches connect to kids, introduce them to a lifelong love of health, fitness, and sport, and serve as adult role models in their lives.  You don’t have to be a sports star to coach a team, and you will learn as you go. We respect and honor your time and commitment, so we take care of all the admin, registration, and paperwork so that you can spend as much time as possible face-to-face with your team.  At SRA, we know that coaches shape not just athletes, but also the future leaders of our community.  Come join our team and help shape the teams of tomorrow.

SRA Student Helpers

High school and middle school students can step into a leadership role at SRA by signing up to help with our programming and events.  We need helpers to mentor the next generation at Town Soccer, to guide younger athletes at track and field, to set up and break down events, even to run a clock at summer basketball.  Students can earn volunteer hours and, at some events, can choose to work for pay.  To sign up to be a student helper, please fill out this form, and we will contact you when we need some help.
