Program options for boys and girls in grades K-3

NS Hoops has restructured its program offerings for the youngest players in order to provide alternative pathways for player development.
Developmental Basketball
Designed for Kindergarten and 1st graders, this 6-week co-ed program offers clinic-style basketball for boys and girls in kindergarten and first grade. Different skills will be introduced each week to teach the basics of the game and players will conclude each session with scrimmage play.

INSTRUCTIONAL Basketball
Designed for 1st and 2nd graders, this 6-week program will meet twice per week. Fridays will be practice sessions that build on the basic skills taught in Developmental Basketball. Teams will play games on Sundays, led by coaches who will provide frequent whistle-teaching moments. No referees/no scores/no standings in order to keep the focus on learning basic game play and rules of the game.

COMPETITIVE Basketball
Designed primarily for 2nd and 3rd graders, this is the traditional league play is geared for young players who have familiarity with basketball and are ready for a more competitive atmosphere. Players will be evaluated before placement on teams (with the goal that teams are balanced by skill and age) , with a weekly night practice assigned and Sunday games.
1st graders with basketball experience will be permitted to play in the 2/3 league, but only if they attend evaluations and are “drafted” onto a team by the league commissioner/coaches
