The Swarthmore Recreation Association is a non-profit community organization that offers year-round, indoor and outdoor sports and recreation programming for youth and adults in the greater Swarthmore area.  All positions require successful completion of Pennsylvania Child Abuse abuse clearances and criminal background checks.

Program Administrator

The Program Administrator is a part-time, permanent, position. The Program Administrator will assist with functions necessary for the administration of recreational programming including, but not limited to: entering data into TeamSnap, coordinating uniform and equipment orders and distribution, processing refunds, assisting with coach clearances, developing schedules, assisting with first-day programming obligations and at major SRA events, as well summer camp administrative assistance. The position also involves working collaboratively with the SRA team and Board of Directors to plan events and future programming. 

Salary is hourly at $21/hour with a variable schedule averaging 15 hours per week throughout the year. Hours are mostly flexible and much of the work may be performed remotely.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with Word/Pages and Excel/Numbers and Google
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Attention to detail and ability to work as a team member with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be flexible in changing roles as needed

Sport Mentors

Sports Mentors are teens who are paid to help at SRA programming and events. Mentors help set up and take down, coach and run drills, run clocks and keep books, and help with lots of other jobs. If you are interested in becoming a Sports Mentor, please reach out to SRA Assistant Director Nika Haase and NikaHaase@gmail.com to be added to the team.

Camp Counselors

Each year, SRA hires several local teachers and teens to work as head counselors and counselors at SRA summer camps. Applications become available in early spring. Please check the Camps section of our website for more information. Many Sport Mentors are hired as Camp Counselors.

Join the SRA Board

Join our volunteer Board of Directors and help steer SRA into the future. Board members serve three year terms. Each board member serves on one of our standing committees, finance, programming, and personnel. Third-year board members serve on the Executive Committee. To join the board, please send a letter of interest, including on which committee you would prefer to serve, to Amy Strachan at Amy@SwarthmoreRecreation.org. Board terms begin in August.

Junior Board Members

Junior board members are rising juniors who serve two years on our board of directors. Junior board members attend monthly meetings and participate in discussions and decision-making around all aspects of SRA operations.
